How difficult would it be to swap engines? (4th gen into 4th gen)
As many of you know my car was stolen and recovered. So now im thinking of buying a high milage 95-99 (does it make a difference?) and swapping my 97 engine into it (45k). I have an auto and im planning on buying a manual. How difficult would this task be? How much would this cost to be done at a shop? Would any forum members be willing to help me do it for free or with pay?

it's "easy" in that everything should fit and line up without any custom fabrication work. It's still a big job, and probably more than the average home mechanic could handle. When a local shop swapped engine's in my step-father's Trooper I think the labor changes came to right around $1000.

Its possible involves alot of work I think that if you swap a newer engine in your max there shouldint be a problem as far as the labor involved its alot of work you can do it your self. all you will need is a engine crane, chaine, tools. Ive taken the engine out of the max before its not such and easy task its alot of work there might be complications with space because when you pull out the engine and tranny together its really tight be need to put the engine on about 60 degree angle so you can have alot of space I can help u out but im really busy with shool lately. As far as taking it to a shop it will cost you on the avarage $1000 I know a really good mechanic overhere in queens if u want I can find out how much he will charge

Hmm somebody installed the OBD-II on my 95
