1250-1750 in parts if you do it yourself.

I don't think any "normal" shop will do it for you - you'd have to find a Maxima enthusiast owned shop (e.g. Maximum Tuning, Tilley's).

We did THTs in a day, but we had BlackBIRDVQ - who had the auto out and manual tranny bolted up in < 4 hours. The rest of the time was spent doing the interior stuff, pedal work, slave cylinder, etc. I would expect it to take a few days if you do it on your own.

how did you get the other parts? did you just keep calling and asking for the parts by name? Or did you find a donor car and just take all of it off one car? Also what is the Top element tuning polyurethane shifter bushing/ where does it go?

Your better of buying a 1995-1999 maxima parts car. Its cheaper that way, and plus whatever you have left of the car you can part it out and make some of your money back. My 2 cents.

Jeff at Maximum Tuning had 3 or 4 parts cars and he was selling the complete package minus the trans for $400. The shifter bushing bolts the shifter rods to the chassis and makes our shifting notchier so there is 0 play in the shifter.

If you have the shifter assembly, you have the control and support rods.

$3500 with new parts and tons of after market goodies.

1 skilled man doing everything- 3 days labor (taking your time, cleaning things off, stoping to replace the rear main)

That was my story.

I would be very nervous about dealing with Jeff at Maximum Tuning and it you wanted my honest opinion i would not deal with him at all....

If you do it cheaply you can do it for about $1500 which includes use Questionable transmission,OEM clutch, shifter realted stuff, pedals and ECU.
If you wanna do it right talk to I30ds he can give you tips

I always thought Max tuning was a great shop that did quality work for us, but to hear about this situation, glad I dont live in NY and had plans to go to his shot. Seems like he's almost as shady as a dealership.

When the shifter assembly was taken off of the parts car, they sawed the shifter bushing right off. When I contacted Jeff about it, he located the last two shifter bushings in the US through his Nissan contacts and sent me one, free of charge. I had a positive experience. All businesses have customers that say they got screwed and customers that can't praise the business enough. You choose what you want to do.

Also, labor was done by BlackBIRDVQ in four hours.

yes, manual brake pedals are skinnier, and you'd have to replace it if you want the car to function/look/feel like a complete 5spd.

personally. at this point cause alot of these cars are pushing 7 - 10+ years in age, dont you think it would be better (and ALOT easier) to just sell your car and buy a 5spd? i cant see spending around $2,000 for parts and delaing with all the aggraviation yourself.. not to mention.. more than likely your gonna be buying a transmission that you know nothing about.. what if it last 10,000 and blows?? u reallly think its worth all that?? just for one project??

honestly im debating between rims/coilovers and a 5 speed conversion. Im sure i could find a parts car at an auction, and id probably end up buying a new I30 LSD tranny cuz im like that (and i plan to keep this car forever. seriously. its not worth a trade in so im keepin it lol) but yeah really all the work is in finding the parts for a good price. Ive seen a few junked ones that had the parts i needed, but it was at a shady yard where the guy was charging me like the parts were new. very not cool. but yeah, ive never driven a 5MT max. its basically my dream lol
