Yes it's part of the y-pipe.

Options:
1. Have an exhaust shop weld a new flex section onto the existing y-pipe
2. Find a used y-pipe in the classifieds forum and swap it out
3. Nows the time to get an aftermarket y-pipe (new or from the classifieds) and swap yours out.

I would recommend option 2 or 3.

You can find flex sections on ebay. Usually around $25-30 shipped. Shop would probably charge another $20-50 to weld it in.

Either buy a used one in the Classifieds here of get a Warpspeed SS. I'm leary about recommending the Budget (I have one) ever since they branched out to LSS they've been having quality control issues on some pipes. The old pipes when LSS was Budget were fine.

Is the noise really loud? My stock flex when I took it out was slightly damaged but didn't cause an increase in noise..

One of the "pointers" on WSP's installation guide is to ensure that you use a hanger to the rear of the flex section. They say that lots of folks don't and the Flex section isn't designed to bear weight, thus the failure of flex section.

yeah im pretty sure youre right, some hose clamps used as brackets were holding up some of the b-pipe but rusted and fell off. i didnt replace them and im thinking that it lelt everything shift and sag, and move around. makes tons of sense now, it probably would have lasted longer without the load on it...oh well iv wanted that 10hp for so long now

its not so loud, but alot more loud than what it was before. i noticed the exhaust get more loud as it broke but didnt realize what was happening. i thought that the new muffler i got from blackcat was coming a bit loose. oh well no big deal
mmm new y-pipe
thnks all and make sure your exhaust isnt raattling around

This thread popped up just as my own flex section just got a tear in it. Is this a repairable issue, or does it require an entire replacement?
