D2 Coilover question: Does this look right?

Do these pictures look right or does it look like something is wrong?

Right side:

Left side:

Backstory:
I had my D2s for a while and the shocks blew so I called D2 and they sent me free replacements. So i've been riding around for a couple weeks on the new shocks and I start hearing clunking noises again, so I take apart the coilover and test the shock. The shock doesn't seem to be blown but when you press down on it, the piston(i think?) goes in crooked and gets stuck. I had to pry it back out but it didn't seem like the shock was blown because the piston came back up no problem.

A friend of mine whose a mechanic took a look at it and he said there's something wrong with my top mounts, however, when I called D2 about it they said that theres no way messed up top mounts could cause the shocks to blow. So my friend told me to take some pictures and send it to them but I wanted to get the opinnion of people from the org first. Any feedback would be great, thanks.

I have tried that but it's physically impossible. Does that mean the mounts were wrong from the start?

Hey Ian, what does it look like under your hood? Just wondering what it's supposed to look like. A picture would be cool if you have time, if not it's cool. thanks

cant speak for D2's as I have ksports but I heard they are similar. the camber plates should be facing horizontally meaning when u adjust the camber the wheel should only be tilting directly in and out. your moutning defintely does not seem right as your plates are aligned diagonally. I had the same problem and switching sides fixed it. If you are unable to switch sides then you probably have the wrong coilovers.

Seems like an installation error. The camber plates look to be seated wrong.

Paul, mine are facing outward, not diagonally like yours. At the Coyote Point bbq way back when, there was a guy from Sac in a blue 5th gen, think his dame was dan, or daniel or something, his looked like that to. That is not how its suppose to look, I dont know if you can take the plates off and put them on in a different way or something. Ill take a picture for you in about an hour when I finish lunch.

also, notice on mine, where that purple hexagon thing screws on, my threaded bolt is short, same length on each side, one of yours is really long. probably wont hurt anything, just weird.

If the three top mounting bolts are 120 degrees apart, I believe if you unbolt the coilover assembly and rotate it 120 degrees counterclockwise, you will be OK. When you do that, leave the top red plate in the same location. In other words, don't rotate the top red plate, but rotate the coilover assembly.
