Bose system problem. Please advise.

Pretty sure bose headunit went out on me this morning. The display has not worked for some time now (common problem), but for no known reason it completely shut down on me this morning. Even when FM button is pressed the antenna does not move, this is why I am thinking it is the head unit all together now. Please help me out and give some input on if you think it might be any other problems or what places I could check to narrow down the problem. Thanks.

It's like the *OEM-NIS2, something like that. The part is listed in the Audio forums. Anyway it allows you to use any aftermarket head unit with the stock bose speakers.

just go into a best buy or something like that, go to the car section and ask the guy for the converter for bose systems. he'll give you a box with a bunch of wires. just connect all the wires, basically it goes in between your headunit and speaker wires. and it will work like a charm.

its an adaptor that allows ur non-bose aftermarket radio work with ur bose speakers.

bose speakers were made to work with the bose headunit. but some genious came up with a harness that will allow u to make ur bose speaker work with any aftermarket radio.

go to best buy and ask them for the bose harness for ur maxima.

i was trying to keep it simple in here, but the impedence is different from bose to non bose headunits, basically the ohms are different. so if you just go straight HU - Speakers it wont work you have to go HU - Adapter - Speakers. it's a cheap part

What I did on last week as a matter of fact was simply run new wires from the head unit to the speakers, just jump the bose amplifier altogether. Took me and my buddy 3-4 hours to mount the headunit and run all new wires.

Bose speakers are made to run at 1 or 2 ohms you're gonna blow those things without the adapter harness in there regardless that you bipassed the bose amps

in laymans terms it's like hooking a house speaker up to a car stereo, may sound good at the time, but in the end it just screws everything up

You are absolutly right, they do sound like crap. But, if you are replacing the headunit, replace the whole system, or at least that is my mentality. Buy the adapter, or buy new speakers. Each person is gonna do their own thing.
