Budget Y follow-up

Hey, just a follow-up. Purchased a SS Budget Y this summer, installed and in a week had a tic-tic-tic sound on moderate load. Inspected, weld material popped off where the 2 pipes meet. Called Jeff, they apologized, cross-shipped new Y (after testing), and waited for me to get time to install. All sounds good now, bad pipe is gone, and I am impressed with how they resolved things. Still think that Budget is a good deal, just inspect better than I did before installing...

budget is junk .. ive seen so many threads where people were mad because of their crappy pipe.... a lot of people say that paint actually comes off the pipe and gets all over their hands....ALSO, numerous times I have seen poor fitment on Budget pipes, the pipes dont line up to the cars exhaust manifold...sounds like quality to me, lol..... ...I have a WARPSPPED Y and I couldnt be happier, not to mention the 4 year warranty

glad to hear you got your problem resolved though

Had mine for 2 1/2 years now, so far no problems. I live in Chicago so salt does get on the pipe.

Last time I looked under my car the y-pipe still looked brand new. I've had mine for 3 years. Never had a problem with it. I think budget is the way to go. Friendly people too.

I am going down next week to get a complete b-pipe, test pipe and muffler installed on my 95 GXE before I put the 3.5 in with HS Headers.

Its nice being an hour away as they do the install for me too. And they are great folks to deal with.

I realize there have been a few bad pipes but Warpspeed and Cattman have those too. As a matter of fact Budget have fixed a few of the other brand y-pipes. But you don't hear Warpspeed or Cattman tell you about those.

Still the best buy by far.

i have only heard of maybe two or three stories where people had problems with their y-pipe. this being one of them. i have heard more horror stories about warpspeed than budget, that's for sure.

hey i remember reading somebody said something about headers not being worth it unless the y pipe and headers are one component. im assuming its different since your putting in a 3.5?

No headers on a VQ30 don't give anywhere near the gains of a VQ35 so probably not worth the extra money over a Y-Pipe.

Install took me about 8 hours with a jack in the driveway by myself and taking it pretty easy. Removal is the worst, getting at all the nuts especially on the rear header is insane. Engine does not have to be removed.

I bought a Warpspeed aluminized Y-pipe about a month ago. It took less than a week to get to me. No fitment problems, installation was easy (removing some of those bolts for taking off the stock pipe was a b**** though). It rattles a bit when driving, I think I just need to tighten the bolts at the catalytic converter. Awesome power increase and cool sound (especially with the intake snorkel taken off).

I have had my Budget Ypipe for a year now. No problems other than a little bit of a bees in the can sound from it, but I still love it!

I really think this was a weld bung that came off. A quality issue obviously, but not an visually evident one. Only under load did it show up. I got no issues with Budget, new pipe rocks and sounds great with CAI and stock cat-back. Of course, I am old so this works for me
