need help with 09 02 cel code ?
well here is an odd one: for quite sometime my codes were:
07 07: Rear Heated O2 sensor
03 02: EGR System Hi/Low Flow
01 04: Vehicle Speed Sensor
And whatever the code was for a front o2 sensor being out
--
well getting ready to fix some of these things i check the codes today, and what tha ? most of the codes are not there ? And I have not made any changes to the car ?
with 96 upgraded ecu i got:
04 01 - Intake Air Temp Sensor
01 04 - vehicle speed sensor
wondering if i needed to change out the front o2 sensors i put in the stock 97 ecu, its findings where:
04 01 - intake air temp sensor
01 04 - vehicle speed sensor
09 02 - which at vbx maxima decoder site is undefined ( haynes manual says) downstream oxygen sensor heater or circuit fault
So has anyone had a 09 02 code (OBD II PO141) ?
and how do i know if i need to replace the front o2 sensor or not ? give a maxima brother some help ? the exhaust does smell like gas or has that rich smell to it ?

The ECU doesn't matter. Sometimes O2 sensors get lazy rather than fail completely, so when you swapped ECU's the other ECU just hasn't detected the front o2 sensor failure yet. If the sensor is indeed bad, it will get redetected and the code will get reported.
As for the 0902 - the VBX maxima is missing some codes - heck so is my FSM..
Just fix the IATS and VSS codes for now, reset the ECU and see what comes back, then take it from there.
