Timing belt slipping after RWD conversion
Timing belt slipping after RWD conversion
I just finished my 350z engine swap with rwd tranny, and I am having problems with a really loud squeal coming from the belts. A little information, VQ35 with driveshaft and rear axle. The only thing I could think of is the belt my be too tight or too loose.. HELP!
It might be the idler pulley is squealing or it could be loose belts. If you overtightened the belts, you might have damaged the pulley... sorry to talk in circles, but you know what I mean..

I have JET I could sell you for tuning because the SAFC is crap.

I tried converting my max to AWD by putting a second transmission in the trunk, but then I always needed a rear seat passenger to keep shifting gears for me when was driving, so I ended up scrapping that idea. I ended up doing the poor-mans AWD. I took some huge rubber belts and tied the front and rear axles together, so now when the front wheels and rear wheels rotate together. It works great in snow.

dude no way i almost did the same thing except i converted to the geo metro 12" wheel without a tire on it then when it snowed really bad i would just weasel along to the nearest train tracks, hook up, launch it at 6K and be on my way accross the city when everyone elses fwd's were sitting there spinning and whatnot it was great. That large rubber belt trick really does help for traction in the snow imo
No pics, no care.

all vq's came with timing chains, not belts. Mine was made in Kyushu, Japan, and it has a timing chain.

the gains are phenomenal with the single stage USDM 4th gen IM. When staying RWD, everything stays the same except the shifter sits a little more to the right, at least that's what I noticed in my 03 max, trickiest part is getting the accessory fan to not chop up the coolant lines.
But my timing belt broke and that's my new project .. like deezo said leather belts
LMK if anyone knows of where to get them.

?
omg haha dude i just read the title and started lmao
