well a 5spd swap could work for starters, manual transmission has less power loss from engine to wheels than an auto. so with a 5spd you should be putting more power down to the wheels, and with a manual there are different mods you can do like SS clutch lines, lightend fly wheel, performance clutch and pressure plate... this isnt an easy mod nor cheap to do since alot is involved but this is one of the best mods for power.

look into lighter wheels, less power will be needed to spin the rims, good tires will get you goin better than s#itty ones.... better suspension....do as much as you can to eliminate wheel hop....LSD, not sure if it helps deliver more power but IIRC it will help you get even power to both wheels instead of sometimes havin one wheel puttin more power than the other.....make sure your car is properly tuned up, good spark plugs, working knock sensor....
