I have a question...
Now, im new to driving , new to my new max, new to modding...one question i have tho. For those of you who do hid conversion kits ( hid's on a non-factory hid car is illegal i hear ) and tints and what not, how do you manage to pass inspection? ...i've been searching the forums and this is a question never asked ( to my best knowledge ) ... i wanna do all this **** to my car but im afraid of not even bein able to pass. tell me yur secret O_o

pass inspection? lol? who regularly inspects your vehicle im curious? do tell.
most cops are to busy to notice that you dont have the proper headlights installed and are not very likely to see you driving down the road and say
"well galdarn, that punk has HID on his non-HID factory 96 nissan maxima"
flip a beotch and pull you over. Usually a cop will only nail you for something like that if you *really* **** him off (I know of this happening to a friend personally, the cop gave him a ticket and he smarted off to him so the cop started searching for things that were out of spec on his car, of course my friend kept going, so did the cop, so he ended up with 7 different offenses from one stop lol)
but seriously, I would just stay away from mirror tint and gawdy body kits and no red or blue led's/neon on the exterior or interior of your vehicle if its visible (in which case put a switch on it and only turn it on when you are parked)
oh and .. .
no ricer blinkers that blink super fast, your not a motorcycle
dont put stickers all over your car, cause then ur just a F.A.G. . . . unless your producing at least 500 rwhp *or* you really are sponsored
no coffee can mufflers, full exhaust only please, no lawnmowers on crack
and no trying to race motorcycles, cause thats g.a.y. to, and motorcycles are much faster than u (even the slow ones)
and . . .
for god sakes dress up your engine bay, dont be like some people on the board who think their max pictures are *better than yours*

lol....you wont have problems with inspection if you get these mods: you forgot about a good drop...the no-point in a new catalytic converter...dont do intake mod, unless its hacked airbox (ghetto) or franken mid-pipe/k&N filter [try K&N first that way you can change back to stock air box with you need to give your car for inspection] (dont do *hidden* CAI from ebay)...no chrome rims...try quantum tint (whatever % is state legal)..and i think there are a few more important things that i prolly cant remember..anyone else?

In response to the original question, I have 20% tints (illegal in NY), hyperwhites in my turn signals (also technically illegal), and a couple of busted o2 sensors. I just passed NYS inspection last week. My suggestion, if you don't have any "friends" in the business who could do you a favor, is to bring your car to a local small-time gas station for inspection. Normally, these guys just want to take your inspection fee, pass you, and get you out of there asap.
Just make sure you don't have anything silly broken like a brake light or something. They'll jump all over the oppurtunity to charge you 10 bucks for a light bulb.
