Is this car a good deal???

95 Maxima GLE...loaded w/ leather/Bose/roof, heated seats, PW/PL/CC etc. AT w/ 150K. Complete and runs (a little rough, but no engine noise whatsoever--tune-up???), however, it needs a rear psgr. 1/4 panel, door and bumper (and the rear passenger wheel is slightly askew)...also could use a front bumper cover (numerous cracks). The rest of the car is fine and everything works. White exterior, beige interior (no tears, etc.). CLEAN TITLE. I can purchase the entire car, as is, for $650.00. Opinions? Bad idea/good idea (for parts or repair)? Thanks in advance...

Seems like a good deal! The real wheel being askew is probably the sign of some serious damage which would be expensive to fix. If I bought it, i'd probably part it out. People here are looking to buy leather interiors and Bose units. You'd have no problem turning a profit.

Thanks...how much is a complete beige leather interior worth anyway (or a complete, non-distorting Bose system, for that matter)? Basically, every part on the car (with the exception of the damaged ones I've noted) is in good to excellent condition.

Check out the Parts for Sale/Wanted section and read a few pages. That's the best way to figure out the going prices.

yah man, i didnt even read the rest of the reply's after someone said "you could have some real damage with the wheel askew".....there is just a slight chance that the car really does have some serious damage, check it out and go with ur gut, i would love to pick apart and build a 95 maxima, if i had that deal i would spend like a year or 2 just tweaking everything and making your own custom maxima

Ok, seeing how I can't post a new thread. This one kinda ties into my question I had. One of my family friends wants to sell me there 97 maxima. I'm not sure of the model, seems like it might be the base model. The car like I said is a 97, it is automatic, has roughly 159,400 miles on it. It is emerald green I believe. The car is lowered with 18" chrome wheels, not sure what springs he used the lower the car. The engine and all is completely stock. Now for the bad stuff. The front bumper is cracked under the passenger side fog light and the fog is kinda hanging there. There is body work needed on the passenger side doors, little dents and paint chips. There are a few scratches in the rear bumber and one on the front bumber, and one of the wheels is cracked; but I prolly be changing those anyways. It also has an oil leak, he said he needs to put oil in it once a month. I looked at as much as I could and there was some oil build up around the valve cover, but I couldn't check the oil pan. He said a mechanic qouted him $500 bucks to fix it, which I think is ridiculous. Alright, So he wants $2500 firm for it. Do you guys think its worth it or should I pass?

Sorry to jack your thread, but like I said. It won't let me post a new one. . .

Thats exactly what I would do, part it out. I would jump on it if it was closer.

My 95 was totaled from behind and had a salvaged title, the leather was damaged, it ran great but it was overall an old car and I got $1,500 for it

yeah..Me and my friend just parted out a 97 cadi with a north star...full front of the vehicale was gone...and the door panels and the rear quarter panels were all thrashed...as well as all the air bags went off.. so no dash...we got it for the north star for our buggie, and we ended up payen 1700 for the car. We ended up maken back like 2900 and that was keeping the engine..
I would say if you got the time and means part the thing out..make a couple bucks..

Like many others, I would buy it and part it out. Might even make enough money out of it to go and purchase another max, maybe in better shape.

It would be better to part it out.

Either way, for $650.00 it would be a worthwhile investment... whether you decide to part it out, fix it/sell it, or fix it/keep it.
I would suggest taking him like $600.00 cash or something like that....
Jump on this car!

Agree. Buy it, part it, make some change and find another one.

for $650, it cant go wrong...u can easily get rid of it for the same price or higher if u decided not to fix it

plus if u have a friend who owns a body shop and stuff, u can save more fixing up the exterior

I would be inclined to pass on this one. It needs body and paint work, has an oil leak and is an automatic. Enough said. One plus is the color.

Move on and find a better one with lower mileage.

I just came across this thread
Sounds like this car
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT

There is no way the car is rebuildable. I have seen this car in person because it is sitting in my driveway.

if you want a car to learn how to do repairs, this may be an ok deal. don't expect to be able to fix it properly to resell and make a buck. if you want to fix and drive a car like this, before you buy it first find a frame alignment shop and take the car to them and have them give you an estimate. then buy it and sell it for parts.
