In the midst of replacing my e-brake cable, i had to remove my heatsheilds (from the cat to the first bend in the b-pipe). I would love to put them back, but the bolts were all seized and most of them snapped. Are any of you running without them? Should I be concerned
Your floorboards might get a little warm... is that the same sheild that goes between the fuel tank and exhaust? If it is, then I would recommend drilling out the bolts and putting the shield back on.

when I replaced my shifter all mine under the cat busted off, the top I managed to get on, but thinking about taking it off cause I think it rattles now. Was worried about the shifter pivot heating up too much, but still.... That was well over a year ago. Yeah, just don't park in a field!
it sounds like it won't make a difference, and that makes sense. Think about it: these are made out of metal which conduct energy and heat very well. being only an inch or less away from the exhaust, it will get just as hot and radiate heat up. It will maybe be a more dirrect heat, but honestly, nothing to be scared of.

i agree with the point that it is nothing more than a weight reduction if even that. it doesn't affect anything and is therefore nothing more than a weight reduction. and also, post 21 was suppossed to be a sarcastic remark about sarcasm. yeah, a poor attempt, but that's what I was goin for. anyway.. sorry to create such a disturbance.

ah, i see now
, lol sorry
Mine fell off last summer, after hearing clanging noises under the car for a week or so, when I hit bumps. We had made a wrong exit on the NJ Turnpike and were driving around the Newark port area, which is full of bumps and dips, etc, when the thing finally fell off and I saw it in the rearview mirror. I asked a few people about it, and they said just don't park over top of dried out tall grass, or it will cause a fire.
weight reduction...i had lots of it during my manual swap...various bolts and brackets and such. The only effect of my heat shield off is my shifter gets somewhat warm when I punch the throttle at high speed.
