I wish I knew everthing. . .

changing the KS will give you back what you've lost, there arent any gains. your MPG should be back close to factory like number 20city/29hwy. Power should put you back to stock numbers (assuming nothing else is wrong on the car)

what is your problem with what he said? he was saying that the guy was cool. he shouldn't have to watch himself because he did not like him at first. i think he has the opinion to dislike anyone he wants. just as i dislike you.

I dont know what i may have said, but I'm always nice with everyone. Good luck with the car.

not everyone likes everyone, but I usually try not to give anyone a reason to not like me.

My Ks has been out according to the (engine light flash) trouble code. It seems like I've lost on some mpg, but haven't noticed any drop in take off. Seems like I've lost a little if I punch it from 35 /40 and up though..

when your KS is dead, do you always get a code or ghost code?

ghost code wont illuminate your check engine light, it will instead remain stored as a code in your ecu. You'll know you have the KS code either by checking for codes randomly or when ever you feel like it, or when something else goes wrong and illuminates a cell, then you'll see that code plus the KS.

my KS has been out for about 5 months now. I just need to put the new one in. For now I'm enjoying paying bottom dollar for my 87 octane gas. I was getting around 20 mpg, mostly commute miles in semi-heavy traffic (35 min trip becoming 1 hour 20, 5 mph most of the time, lots of space in front so not much stop and go.) I stopped using the defroster, rolled down the windows, replaced my plugs, replaced my gas filter, and am now getting 25 mpg. The big thing that changed was my driving, I rarely take the engine over 2k rpm any more.

imagine how much better your gas consumption could have been with same driving and a fully functional KS

if your KS isnt fully functional it will store a code, it just wont illuminate the check engine light. So if your ks is dead there still will be a code.

Before when I had a bad Knock sensor, there was no CEL. After my Air Temp which was dangling around set of the CEL, i also found the KS. Ignoring it at first, i just kept resetting the ECU, but KS came back every time. At this point the most I could get was 320 miles to the tank driving normally(40%City/60%highway). One day saw a cheap new OEM KS so I bought it. Installed it bymyself. The following tank I did a test to see if MPG really improved. Used the same gas from the same station (BP 93). Sure enough I was able to drive 380 miles before empty(40%City/60%highway), on the same 16 gallons of gas that I burned.
Even now that I changed jobs, and mostly drive city miles with a heavy foot, i still can hit at least 320 on 16 gallons of gas.
So if I was you I would put in a new KS asap, as it messes up your milage per tank pretty bad.

When my KS went to lunch, average MPG(mostly highway 65mph-85mph) dropped from 27 to 16 so I switched from 93 to 87 gas. With a new KS + harness cable, the MPG went back to 26-27 and I plan to continue with 87 oct gas. Car is old (95) and cannot be a collectable one, I plan and hope it lasts for 2 more years

I've been pulling the knock sensor code for at least a few months, however my gas mileage is still very good, getting close to 30 mpg with mostly highway driving. I do notice just a bit of loss of power when flooring it, but not too bad.

After reseting the ecu you'll have to drive about 200 miles for the ecu to run thru its cycle. Before then more than likely you wont throw any codes.

I thought my OHM tester was broken...........well after driving i did an ohm test on the sensor and got 1900-1999 reading.....then i though it is because of the heat so i let the engine kool down ......20 minutes after that no reading.....then after that i thought the ohm tester was broken .....now this morning i got 1950 reading.....so i was like WTF , so i put my hand i touch the sensor and wiggled it alittle ....now i did the reading and i GOT 550......

so after touching the sensor it went back normal.....should i still change it or is the screw or something loose? ( i already ordered a factory sealed FOR $$$$$$$$$$70 shipped)

I have not read ONE single post from you today that isn't a stupid flame on "newbs". Remember just a few short months ago when YOU were a noob? I wish that other thread about blackmax (edit: ABOUT his ugly rims, I didn't agree with the comment) wasn't closed because I replied in there too. What are you contributing?

I think my KS might be broken. My battery died to the point where the battery testers couldn't even test it. I am thinking Buena Park Nissan did it to me on purpose because I got them to give me a free tire rotation. Anyways I stop at the liqour store and when I try to start it it made the cranking noise and died. Then I went to Sears and they tested it and they really couldn't because it was soooo dead, Anyways I got a new Die Hard battery but now gas millage sucks. At 100miles I am at half a tank where as a week ago I got to 157 on when the needle reached half. Same amount of gas and everything so now I'm going to go to Garden Grove Nissan and have them check.

No, it's not about you. It's about the member I quoted in my reply...see the above post. Honestly, there wasn't one thread that I read yesterday where he contributed something helpful to the conversation, it was all just flaming.
