Pain and Paint....
Pain and Paint....
I plan on swapping my slightly damaged '95 front bumper ( ever tried pushing a Cadillac SDV ?) for a '97 setup, and replacing the rear trunklid and bumper to match. Then, adding a Stillen bodykit to the rebodied Max, with 18" Evolutions(not sure of name) will complement nicely the engine mods planned.
The big question is, the paint on my '95 seems to be a discontinued shade of white. My fear is that the new parts will not match the rest of the car. Any of yall with white Maxes have to deal with differentiating shades of white?
Dont want bright white trim and bumpers with off-white rest of the car. That would look

If you can cut a section of the old bumper off to use as reference, a painter will have a better chance of matching the color. When I replaced my front fenders earlier this year, I took a dremel to the lower section of my old passenger side fender (which was still attached) and cut off a chunk about 3 by 3 inches. (had a nice hole there about 2 days while the new parts were being painted. I was pretty tempted to put a piece of cardboard there and duct tape the cardboard to the fender, ghetto style, lol) Then I gave it to the guy who was going to be painting my car. I think that if he had gone with the factory paint based on the paint code, it would have come out noticably darker, since paint tends to lighten with age. With the reference, he was able to get an almost exact match, only noticable under very very close scruntiny under certain lighting conditions. No one else seems to be able to tell the difference, maybe it's in my head... by the way, my max is the deep evergreen, and that is also a tough color to match.
A good bodyshop can match any paint. Paints aren't "discontinued". There is code aka receipe to mix the colors into your color. But since your paint is 10 years old, they will have to custom tint the mixture to match. All depends on how good the shop is. Or how much they care

make sure you find a shop with a good reputation and make sure they do good work...this will not be cheap tho...if you go cheap, it looks cheap...
