Thanks, .org

I'd like to thank everyone for the ideas and help over the past 5 1/2 years that I've owned my Maxima. But all things come to an end. Probably within the next month, I will be selling my 96 Maxima SE. We are downsizing from 3 cars to 2. We sold my 90 Pathfinder but will be replacing it with an 01-newer LE model. So I am going to sell my Maxima and take over driving my wife's Accord to and from work since it is much cheaper on insurance and a little on gas than the Max.

Thanks to everyone again. I hope that money savings will put me into a position of picking out a used G35 in a couple years. We'll see. I'll still stop by and chat in the 4th gen forum from time to time. Take care.

You're selling a modded 5-speed Maxima to drive a Honduh in order to save peanuts!

Sacrilege. I wish you all the best but you will regret this decision down the road as you will lose money on all the mods you have and any joy of driving will be lost.

One consolation is that you won't have any trouble selling your Maxima to the right person.

I feel I've gotten enjoyment out of the Max for the past 5 years. It's time for me to move on. I'd like to sell the Maxima before it depreciates further. Driving the Honda is more of an interim car until we purchase a G35 in the next couple years.

So looking at it that way, I can handle driving an underpowered accord for a while until I upgrade to the Infiniti.

Waiting two years for a G35 may translate into a considerably longer time period. If you own your own residence, the housing market may implode in the interim resulting in a loss in home equity and borrowing power and high oil prices may force the economy into recession.

Enjoy the Honduh in the meantime!

Well, if it does, it does. I'm pretty content with my decision. I've reached the point where I will sacrifice ownership of the Maxima in exchange for the savings of hundreds in insurance, plates, and maintenance. If a future vehicle purchase has to be put on hold, I can handle that. Heck, I've been looking to purchase a newer Pathfinder for over a year now and just now have decided to do it. I'm not a very impulsive person so patience wouldn't be a problem.

I appreciate your concern though. I'm not saying it will not happen, but fortunately, our housing market prices locally are not inflated like coastal areas or other "hot spots." So if there is a recession, our equity would not be nearly affected to the extent other parts of the country would be.

I wasn't trying to rain on your parade. I was merely pointing out that this economic cycle is getting a little long in the tooth and the current downturn in the stock market presages a weaker economy going forward, which in all likelihood will translate into lower home prices. You sound like you have your head screwed on right.

Remember patience is a virtue!

I understand. I hope I didn't come across like a jerk. Hopefully, that wasn't the impression. But I do appreciate your comments and feedback. It's just that I feel like we'd be better off right now with just two cars. You know, save up for a rainy day.

Right on! Three vehicles doesn't make a lot of sense. But do you really need a Pathfinder? What do you use it for?

Well, when we had my 90 pathfinder 4dr 4x4, it came in handy in a couple ways. Obviously, 4x4. But that isn't justified for two or three days a year that we get substantial enough snow. However, the other reason is cargo space. I play drums and we do quite a bit of home improvement stuff ourselves. So the cargo room in the SUV came in extremely handy. Plus, I do HVAC installation work on the side for friends, family, and whoever else. So I will be using the Pathy to pull a cargo trailer that I buy next year. So I guess that is three reasons, not two.
