what is the best exhaust system for power, sound and price? I was looking at hks, greddy, pacesetter and the custom enterprises dual exhaust. tell me what you guys think.

Do some research for yourself. Stay away from pacesetter if you live in 4 season weather. Don't buy the CE dual exhaust... if you want duals get it custom done for a fraction of the price. GReddy is nice... I have that. Haven't heard anything bad about HKS. Read the stickies and listen to the sound clip stickies.

depends on how much you want to spend for little to no gains. I'd say get a muffler you like, and have an exhaust shop whip you up an exhaust. stick with 2.25-2.5 inch piping.

HKS only makes the rear section (axle back) for our cars

Whatever you choose, make sure you get a resonator for the b-pipe.

With a question like this
what is the best exhaust system for power, sound and price?
... who doesn't expect any bias ... for personal opinion.

i had a pretty bad experience with a custom catback..i asked the guy to make it quiet and it came out really restrictive..the resonators diameter on the inside was like i.5 inches and i got a borla oval shaped muffler that was really small...(its 2.5 piping) i dont know which of the pieces is causing the restriction but it makes the car feel slower and less responsive..i wish i bought a greddy.......just be careful what u ask for and u should be ok i guess... just my $0.02

So... why don't you just tell him exactly what you want then? That way if he screws up, you have something to yell at him about.

i told him what i wanted...something quiet and thats what he did..my fault i guess!...anyone know if the resonator can be causing the restriction cuz i plan on chaning the muffler anyway...maybe i should do both at the same time...

How do you know it's causing restriction? Dynos /// flow tests?

A Borla muffler won't be restrictive. They have a HUGE racing heritage. The problem is the guy who made your exhaust prob didn't know what the hell he was doing. Maybe he used crush bends and that's what's causing the restriction? My piping is all mandrel bent and my '97 max is far more responsive than the '00 max I drove the other day. Felt like a 4banger compared to my car

I'm happy with my Borla...my car definitely isn't slower since I had it installed. Since I got the muffler and cleaned my TB I'm getting much better gas mileage too.

All models use the same GReddy SP2. I heard the SE was the only model they tested it on.
