Educate me (suspension)

Alright, i must admit one of the few areas that i know very little about is my suspension. I know some/most of the real basic stuff but any info you guys got i would appreciate.

And i have a question, i have 1 98 I30, in the summer it runs 16inchers, in the winter 15's. ideally i would like it to ride stiffer, not really really stiff, but it dives into corners as it is now, also i would like it lower, but i need it to be high enough in the winter so im not plowing... what combo do you guys reccomend for this?

Thanks, and sorry for my stupidity.

If your car is an auto, put a set of 5 speed springs up front to even out front and rear fender gaps and toss in a set of Tokico Illuminas. Swwwwwwwwwwweeeet ride!
