Injector

I just finished a two day "in the rain" injector job on my 95 max. If you look up previous post you will see the bank scheme. I think Bank 1 is the back left. My injector went out in bank 3 which i believe is the one right next to it. I opted to change all three back there as to never do it again. You will have to remove the upper intake manifold and a few hoses. Be prepared to replace vacuum and coolant lines as they are difficult to get off. The injectors themselfs are pretty tricky to get out to. Manual says to just pull them out. My best bet is to spray a little pretroleum grease on the edge of top of the injector then twist and pull. Remember to replace every hose on the build up other wise it will feel like you did nothing. You will want to replace the manifold gasket also so you dont compromise the seal. Good Luck!

www.autozone.com and go to the repair manual section. There is an online Haynes manual available for 4th gen Maxima's.

Why do you think it is the injector? Misfires in Maximas are usually caused by faulty ignition coils, especially if you have a 99 model.

My ECU just gave me the same error code yesterday. I took it to autozone and they suggested replacing the ignition coil as well for bank 1. Does anyone know if replacing this coil will fix the misfire and do you know how to do it? (Short of having to pay for a Haynes manual?

Since a coil will run you 70-100 bucks depending on where you choose to buy it, the 15 dollar cost of Haynes is probably a worthy investment.

To determine if its the coil or not, you could swap coils between two cylinders and see if the code changes. Oh btw, read the stickies.
