whistling noise above 100mph?

Are you supposed to get a whistling noise when going above 100mph on a 95 Max SE? My windows and sunroof are all closed completely, unless there's some type of small opening in one of them that isn't being closed. It's not really an issue, but I'm curious. Thanks.

I get that whistling sound. At 100mph too i guess. I really dont pay attention at 100mph for noise. But more like at 75mph i get the whistle here and there. Sounds like air is flowing thru the openings on my pass. side mirror. Thats what i assume because i never got the whistling sound in other cars w/o fold-able mirrors.

It's got something to do with the intake you removed and the other problem you have when you floor the car at 40 mph.

I suggest you take your car to the dealership and get it thoroughly diagnosed.

It shouldn't cost you any more than $1,500.

That's mean, thanks a lot for hurting a noob's feelings! I'm just trying to learn about cars! I'm going to go cry now you jerkfaces!

Haha, yeah, but much thanks to those of you who gave honest responses.

What makes you think that this was for attention? Maybe I just wanted to know if other people experienced the same thing or not. How can you be so ignorant and pessimistic?

Also, what is wrong with going above 100mph occasionally? Why do you people even mod your cars for performance? Isn't it because you enjoy speed and fast acceleration? I personally have a need for speed and fast acceleration. I don't care if people think I have a sweet car or not, I just like enjoying it because it's fun! I feel safer and have more fun going 100mph in a car than in a roller coaster because I know I am in control.

And that intake thing, yeah, so what, I'm a hypochondriac about my car. I was scared that I messed it up. Most noobs would be!

The real question was: Where is the sound coming from? I want to understand the scientific reason for this whistling.

yea that was the real question and you threw in the 100mph to feel cool. People mod there cars mostly for the track not to go 100+ on a highway

How does it make me cool to go 100mph? HAHA, I'm not as obsessed with my reputation as most people are. I was actually assuming that most people go 100mph sometimes like at night on some empty country roads. That's where people commonly go drag racing...

check to see if your car has been in an accident...(check for things like stickers under the hood and vin number stickers on doors and trunk) if you don't see any signs of an accident (i don't know if you're even a 2nd owner to check for such a thing) then check the weather stripping around the doors and where the window goes into top of the door sometimes it gets kinda jammed on some cars

yeah.. i feel pretty much the same way. me and all my friends will "occasionally" go above 100mph some of us more often than others lol, so it doesn't seem out of the ordinary with us. we're probably the types of people that most people like to say "thats stupid and immature", come to think of it it probably is but o well.

People may mod thier cars strickly for show reasons, or because they just want too. Ive modded my car pretty heavy but have yet to take my car to the track. Do I drive aggresive? Yes. Do I hit 100mph on the road some times? Yes. Do I post up on the .org about driving 100mph on a public road? No. Why? People will flame you for it. Its not safe and no matter how hard you argue that you are a good driver some people on here will take offense to your wreckless driving. My .02.

Just imagine going 100mph into a still standing buck in the middle of the road..... your car won't whistle much longer. But seriously I would check the weather stripping, my Max whistles at 60 but my stereo more then overcomes a slight whistle.

Ha, never thought of the buck thing. That would be scary. I do it on a road that has tall cornfields on both sides, though. (It's Ohio :-P) Pretty sure there's no bucks around cornfields. Yeah, I'll check the weather stripping. Thanks.

ugh, 100mph isn't even that fast. all you dipsh*ts jumped on his @ss as if he was trying to act cool by stating that he hit 100mph in his car

your car is naturally gonna have some wind noise when you reach those speeds, check to see if the plastic shields under the engine compartment are all secure, see if there is any weather stripping sticking out around the doors, put a piece of electrical tape along the seam where he mirror folds, that actually seems like a likely area to cause wind noise, i think i'll give that a shot tomorrow, then drive 100+ on the hwy! oh noes!!!!1!

Why is it always the same people involved in the peanut gallery when a retarded thread like this comes along? Don't you have anything better to do than to waste your breath on this stuff? You're like the bottomfeeding bacteria in the bottom of a grimy fish tank. Get a life and go give some productive input in a useful thread and let this sh*t die... christ.
