Gauge Cluster

Anyone notice there is a PRND21 in the cluster? I took mine apart last nite and noticed there were spaces for light bulbs to illuminate this gear indicator in the cluster. Has anyone ever tried to put bulbs in there?

yeah it came up a while ago...not an option here in the US although the slots are there for them. no wiring...there was talk about getting this brought over from New Zealand from an org member but he never got back to me or anyone else about it...might be worth trying to retro fit a 5th gen cluster or that part for it, but would probably be a hassle. search for the other thread(s) and you might find some info but it never went anywhere.

Thanks. Would be pretty cool to hook that up and do something different with the center console gear indicator.

dont think there was a write up, but you dont need one. Get an rpm switch with a shift light, then instead of using the included shift light, wire up the leds you stuck in the guage cluster.

I bought a 1995 Cefiro cluster from a junkyard in Japan and tried to swap. Everything else worked, but shift indicators never came on. I was hoping that this was going to be plug-and-play, but apparently it wasn't.

There is probably a wiring harness you needed as well. There looks like there are some connections for wires next to the bulbs.

I am guessing you drive a standard. There would be no lights in there so Nissan could save $0.02. On automatic models, there is an extra wire in the wiring harness which supplies power to the relay for these lights...so if you drive a standard, there is no wire, hence no need for the bulbs.

I have an autotragic. So if there is an extra wire all I have to do is get bulbs and plug them in? Or is there more to it then that?

there is no way of the light shining through the bulb holders. You need to get a jdm, or edm cluster..
