Clear Coat for Red Clears

I did the red tail light mod from the stickie today. The clear coat I used doesn't look right. Is there a spacific kind that other org members used when they did it?

If you used the Testors Candy Apple red you don't need a clear coat.

i didn;t do tail lights but i did AE headlights. and when i applied my clear coat. it looked really nasty and ugly. Like it was creamy and stuff. But once it left to it dry over night wow. They look great.

you do, if you don't want the paint to fade and crack and look bad.

regular duplicolor clear coat should be fine, seems like you've got it all worked out now though.

Exactly. Testors paint is not weather proof and will crack and or fade over time. Mine looked like **** about 2 weeks after painting them.
