new ignition blowing fuse
new ignition blowing fuse
ok heres the story:
My gf's 99 SE was broken into a little over a week ago, and the guy ripped the iginition out attempting to hotwire the car (i guess?)
either way, he failed and ran when he heard someone coming. Now we had a local shop repair the window and order the new ignition and keys from Nissan and program them accordingly.
Ever since then, the dome lights/door lights/map light do not work. I checked the fuse, sure enough it was blown, so i threw another one in there and it blew instantly. Nothing on the car has been changed since the ignition replacement, plus the ring that lights up around the key isn't working. My only theory is that either something is wired up wrong, or there is a bare wire touching metal somewhere and wasn't covered in the ignition area... is it easy to get at the wires so i can see if its just a bare wire? If there isn't one, im just gonna take it back to the shop and make them fix it.
Is there a write up somewhere?
thanks

Pull the steering column plastic shrouds off and see if anything obvious shows up... Assuming the work was paid for (insurance or otherwise), I would just take it back to the shop and demand they fix it.

Crossed Wires
My guess is that they crosses a wire.
I'd disco the battrey's negative cable and call them to tow it.
You do now want to risk further damage.
If you must drive it take out the fuse that keeps blowing.
