I've replaced rotors before but never run into this before; I got new rotors, stuck them on the hub and try to turn them to make sure they are good and I realize that part of the bracket is actually touching the rotor. Its leaving a 10mm wide strip on the rotor. By the way, no brake pads are on just yet and the rotor is flush with the hub, the bracket tightened as it should be.
So, I'm thinking about that and figure " try to put the new pads on and see what happens?" So I put the new pads on, compress the piston all the way back, and the caliper wont even get on. What gives?

I'm sure I might be able to gorilla the caliper on with a hammer but I'm thinking something else is up.

 

looks like you either got the wrong rotors or the holes on the rotors arent machined properly and its actually not seating the rotor all the way. I'd get another rotor. Is the problem with both? or just one.

I really think they gave you the wrong rotors.

 

Problem's on both. I was also thinking they gave me the wrong rotors- especially since the caliper doesn't fit with the new pads. I kinda want make sure I'm not jumping to conclusions here...

 

Some pictures might help... but it sounds like you have the wrong rotors.. (as PAREDLINE already suggested).

 

did the new rotars look like the old one's? cant you tell if thier the same?

i'm not sure but are the ABS rotors the same as the non-ABS ones? Just a thought? Is your car equipt with ABS? Like the others have said, they are the wrong rotors.

 

Same - no difference between ABS and non-ABS. The axles are different for ABS and non-ABS.

 

no, no abs. But like njmodi mentioned, it doesn't really matter. I just shot the vendor a PM (he's on the org) about sending them back. It just kinda sucks as this is going to set me back another two weeks before I get the new ones from him. Plus, its getting cold around here and I wanted to get it done before I'm freezing my fingers off! Granted, its only about 20 min to get it done on each side..
