I just recently changed my sparkplugs (platinum tipped of course), and since then, I have been getting the error code for cylinder 1 misfire. After some deducing (moving sparkplugs and coils), I found out it was the ignition coil....the rubber boot at the end is worn and the current is arching elsewhere. I bought a new ignition coil and installed it today. After a few hours of driving, it began to idle rough again and the check engine light came on. Again, the error code was for the cylinder 1 misfire. Having new sparkplugs and new ignition coil, how is this possible? Please help. Thanks

It is possible that the coil was not installed properly or you may have a defective coil. Switch it around a see if it happens again with another cylinder. also check that cylinder's spark plug, it may not be seated properly.

Perhaps that plug is faulty. Did you try swap the plugs between two cylinders and see if the misfire moves with the plug.

If you've swapped coils and plugs and the misfire stays with the same cylinder (i.e. #1) then you may have a bad injector.

Found out the injector was 'defective'. Had it replaced, but the autozone computer said I have to replace 3 of them. So I'm really not sure if compatibility with the other injectors was a factor. I'll find out soon. So far, it seems to be fine...and hopefully, it stays that way.

The Autozone computer is set up to "upsell".
You didn't need 3 injectors, only the one that was bad.
Basically, you got taken for with the purchase of 2 unneened injectors.

Actually I think he only replaced one, and was hoping not to run into any compatibility issues... at least thats how I interpreted his post:

Yep....I never did buy the other "required" two injectors. I'm playing it as cheap as possible
