IMO, don't get either of those. D2's are just plain crappy overall, and Teins leave much to be desired. The Tein basics don't have an adjustable lower mount, or adjustable dampening, 2 very important features. (Not to mention the fact that they have to me modified to fit because the mounting holes are too small!)
You would be better off with Boss Chens or JIC's, as they are very high quality, and have full adjustability.

You need to just do some of your own research and make up your own mind. Making threads like this will end up with the D2 guys bashing teins and the tein guys bashing the D2s. Ive had my D2s installed for about 8 months and have had zero problems with them. Handling is great and the ride comfort isnt too bad either.

Here are some other threads about D2s.

Yet another simple question without a simple answer.

Teins for proven quality and a smoother ride
D2s for adjustability and better handling

I can't speak for the Basics, but I am not sure I would go with them do to the lack of adjustability. Having lived with my D2s for some time now, the adjustability is a major selling point to me for any suspension components in the future (JIC..)

There have been minor issues that I have had to troubleshoot but I wouldn't trade them for a set of Teins with no issues.

To me the only step up from D2 would be JIC and it would only be in quality not features or handling/ride quality.

Does anyone else have the Boss Chens?

Fr33way, JIC is what I recommend.. and if they're comparable to these Boss Chens, then they might be worth trying out. Some people like D2's and swear they're the greatest, some people like Bomz parts and swear they're the greatest. Nothing is ever really the greatest unless you can come up with some type of raw data shootout proof. Even then.. the butt-meter/dyno will still disagree with the results.

My best advice: find a few .org buddies that will let you hang out on the weekend and try out a different ride each week. You might have to pay for some gas, food, and maybe even beer here and there, but the last thing you want is to follow someone's advice that is based on their own taste and experience if those same factors will be different from your own.

The concept of the "test drive" will exist for as long as different people have different tastes and gauges for performance & comfort.

I'll keep mentioning Cattman/Progress...Cheston, me, and at least 20+ other rides chose em though most aren't here on the .org. Comfortable street ride since they don't use pillowballs and no adjustments to screw around with and mess up. Just install, set height and go. Fantastic support out of SoCal too.

And with some simple revalving and spring changes they're nearly as good as Moton and JIC's costing 5x the price.

Tein basics are preset at a very good dampening rate-its a comfortable yet firm ride great for daily driving and track if you desire...if you arent concerned with adjustability and dont wanna have to tinker with the dampening, than the teins are your best bet....I really like just adjusting my height to my liking.......if you have adjustable dampening, how often are you REALLY gonna change it anyway?...after you get it set, its a pain to mess with it again and get your alignment and things like that.... teins are tried and proven.... from what I understand the d2's, ksports, have very firm spring rates.... an org member Justin rode in my car and said that the teins were more comfy than his ksports ... I guess its all what you like

ok i mean i dont have coil overs but i have tiens in my 240 and they are absolutely amazing. if anyone on her has JIC then they will know first hand that they are rock hard. definetly not for daily driving. i mean i have agx's on my car and i have not touched the dampening at all on them i just set it n forget it, haha. yea so i think i would go with the tiens for daily drivin.

Two wrong statements in here;

1. With D2s, when you adjust your dapening, you dont need to get another alignment.

2. When ordering D2s, you can chose your own spring rate, its not a preset one. You can get what ever you want.

As for JICs being too stiff. I think most people are just too sensitive. Ive ridden in my friends car many times who has JIC A2's and it really isnt that bad. If you guys want a smooth comfortable ride, leave it stock.

Im far from sensitive when it comes to the ride quality of a car. like i said i have tien coil over on my 240, with just about every hardened suspension parts u can imagine. the ride is still their. with the jic's i feel like im riding on the bump stops
