Disadvantages of 205/40 - 17 tires?
The Road Handling...
Would be so much less then getting 225's, try turning a 60 degree corner at 65 and tell me what happens(running 205's), then try that with 225's and its clockwork.
1. u can bend ur rim.
2. ur speedometer will be off(prolly real bad)
3. ur odometer will clock more miles, than ur actually going.
4. looks ugly
5. u'll literally feel everything on the road.
6. the max needs bigger shoes than that.

Wouldn't Z rated tires be a waste on a max, they would wear so fast!!!

Z-rated tires are the stickiest. It is not a waste if you drive hard and want the car to handle well. Besides, I've gotten about 35K miles out of my Toyos with lots of hard driving.
Z-rated tires don't wear that fast, but it depends what kind of tires you get. If you get one with a treadwear that's under 200, it will wear really fast. My W-rated (170mph or some ridiculous number like that) Dunlop SP5000's have gone 20,000 miles and still have approx 1/2 tread left, and I am HARD on these tires too.
