UDP and FID flywheel question
UDP and FID flywheel question
Does anyone have both of these combinations? Is it worth it? I know im def going with the flywheel but will also going with the UDP make the car even harder to drive because of the wieght the crank will be?
I have a Fidanza Flywheel, and an Underdrive Pulley. I didn't really notice hardly any difference when adding the UDP when it was hooked up to all the other pulleys. The flywheel did make a big difference. When you push the clutch in, the rpms drop a bit quicker so you have to shift faster. Having a STS that goes in and out easy helps alot(which I don't have). The only problem I have, which may not even be due to this is: When I come to a stop every so often, with the radio on, heat on, lights on and brakes on, the rpms will drop so quick they will go beyond the average idle speed of 625 or so, and the engine will stall. Granted this may not be the cause of this, but it's high on my list. There's a post asking us all which Mod we regret the most, and quite a few members say the UDP. Hope this helps out!
I vote that you just get a Fidanza flywheel, I have used many of them in many cars and it was the one thing that made the cars the most fun to drive. Feels like you're adding a ton of power (even if you aren't). Go for it! Pullies are stupid, add something that does more and doesn't have any adverse effects (not that all people have them, but yeah).
Agreed. They are supposed to do the same thing to the car, but for the money the flywheel will be much more noticable and effective. I would say get the Fidanza, and save your money from the UDP and buy an intake or exhaust(Ypipe).
I wouldnt say the UDP is stupid. Yes, the reslults arent as extreme as the flywheel, but it does help.
With both a UDP and flywheel they go hand in hand, especially if your looking to gain the most you can out of your motor.
I have the UDP, but with a Stillen flywheel and have had no issues with it.
The car does rev much quicker, but like it was said before, the rpms drop faster as well.
It just takes some getting used to.

i just posted about my impressions about the udp in the 5th gen forum.
as far as the flywheel, probly the mod that did the most for performance on my car. some say its harder to launch with a light flywheel, i havent had any problems.
and the short throw comment, i ahve a pacesetter, i love it, its really low and short shifts, but i think its harder to move the shifter, so it may not be better to have one.

My STS problem is possibly due to adjustments made to the clutch pedal, it's an option I forgot to bring up. I'm probably going to take it to a stealership to see if they know how to bring it back to factory height and engagement points with the interlock and cruise switches. Right now at a stop I have to really ream it into gear in first.
