Failed Smog (NOx), EGR Solenoid Prob

My EGR Control solenoid is not getting enough juice to activate the solenoid (to open the EGR valve). Solenoid works fine when I apply direct power from battery, but the harness doesn't carry enough juice to activate it (it does read 12 volts, but doesn't have enough power to even run a test light). Looks like one lead goes to a power source, and the other one goes to the ECM.

Any ideas? Does the ECM just complete the ground in the circuit to activate? Sound like a bad connection or an ECM problem (or a sensor that the ECM uses to activate the solenoid circuit)? Any help is appreciated...this is a tricky one...

Thanks in advance !

Dave

you should do a continuity test on the wires.

It's been a while, but I believe 12V is the default voltage feed. When the ECM drops that to 0V, the EGR system is activated.
