Mid-sized/entry level luxury sedan - compare Maximas to Toyoya Avalon and Honda Accord (certain models).

mabye under powered, mabye not a real looker(but beauty is in the eyes of the beholder) but those engines were truely the most reliable 6cylinders ever made, they made the VQ's look like an A4's 1.8T

wow, can't believe you guys are talking about slant 6's. My first car had a slant 6 in it, 1978 Dodge Aspen SE. Man that thing was slow, sloppy and kind of ugly, but the price was right when i was 16 years old.

Anyway....don't want to get too off topic....like we haven't aleady.

Not good, GREAT, that is if you love sludge galore, and broken timing belts

the camry isn't in the same class at the maxima. Its more of a camry/altima and maxima/avalon.

If the Maxima is in the same class as the Avalon, then why is Nissan making the Teana to battle the Avalon in its class? I think the Maxima is in the same class as the Camry.

My dear departed grandmother had a 1961 Valiant with the slant 6. IIRC, you changed gears by pushing buttons on the dashboard, lol!

Seriously, the correct response is the 4th Generation Maxima is in a class of its own!
