Ground on Cat?

I was working on my car and noticed my ground from my cat was gone, I had to get some wire so couldn't fix it then, What negative effects would this have on the engine, exhaust? Plan on fixing tomorrow.

You mean the little strap? There was a thread on this a while ago... mine's been gone since I've had the car.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but in the previous thread, there were posts about it minutely affecting gas mileage. I believe that's it.

I found mine missing, and replaced it because my multimeter showed the y-pipe wasn't grounded well.

It made no difference I could see in fuel economy (although my fuel mileage is crap since my transmission bearings are bad)
