Cylinder 6 misfiring...
Thats the signal I got the other day and I had a few questions about it... Other than it being the spark plug and maybe bad wiring, what else could be the cause of it misfiring? Which one is cylinder 6? And which spark plug should I buy to replace it? Thanks in advance...

See if you have any oil on your plug. I've seen more than one instance where just the plug in cyl 6 gets covered in motor oil. Mine does this, but have not caused any problems yet. I've always wondered why it's always cyl 6 that gives the most probs. It's probably the farken coil like people say, but who knows. Just something else for you to check out.

1st things first.
1. Check to see the condition of the plug.
If problem with the plug, change it.
2. Check/test the coil either by switching it around/unplugging other coils etc, or checking the resistance.
If problem points to coil pack, replace.
Good thread, but DO NOT post in it.

A misfire can be caused by a bad plug, coil or injector.. so you need to check all three.
Rule out the easy stuff first, swap two coils and see if the misfire moves, if it does, then you've got a bad coil.
If the coil swap does nothing, then swap two plugs (etc.)
If the misfire stays in the same cylinder after swapping coils and plugs, then you might have a bad injector... refer to Haynes for more information that that point.

Good info, I am going to have to try switching things around. Mine gives the Cyl1 Misfire code but only if I give it more than half throttle and it normally only happens above 3000RPM. I have only noticed it in 3rd gear but it probably will do it in others too. Any reason why it would just be the 1/2-full throttle and not 0-1/2?

Wow, that was quick, thanks. I will switch the coil pack with another one when I get home.. Don't know if this counts as threadjacking since it is on the same topic, just different cylinder but if it does.. sorry /end hijack.
Thanks, Tim

Thanks for the info, Ill check it when I get home... My cars been running like crap recently. It sounds like its gonna die when I start it, and it shakes pretty bad the higher the RPMs, and I have a lot less power, so hopefully its something simple to fix.

hey this happened to me like a week ago. I took it to my neighborhood mechanic and he ran the OBD test and it reported cylinder-6 misfire. I watched what he did the entire time and he did pretty much what njmodi said.
he also did it while the engine was running, which kinda scared me at first..
anyway it turned out to be a bad coil pack
