I really don't race these days and haven't for a while. I was wondering how the IS300 does against an auto with little or no mods. Around where I live every Max I see is driven by someone who is not likely to challenge me anyway. And be nice about describing your encounter if you kicked its a** (I am still a Max enthusiast!). Thanks for your replies. BTW the dude who bought my meticulous Max has already wrecked it...a day after he got it!!!!

IS is quick

the IS should take the max in my opinion...I think with both stock the IS is just a better car...i thikn the poeple on this forum make the max out to be a sports car...don't get me wrong the max is quick but its not an IS300...my brother is getting one soon so ill race him to do a true test...i dont' think my 98 willl win unless i get the Y and CAI by the summer...but i got the 5sp and his is going to be automagic...

I raced one two times and beat it two times. We were at a stand still and had a flagger. A true race. I do have most mods and only managed to take him by two lengths each time. A stock auto max doesn't stand a chance. The IS is a very nice car. Its on my 'look at' list for my next car.

I was playing with one on the freeway about a month ago.. guy drove like a f'n maniac.. flew by me, I was playing catch-up the whole time.

I dont think he gained on me at all, since he always had about a .5-1s leap on me as we burst thru holes in traffic.. he wasn't leaving me, but i wasn't really gaining on him.

Im auto 97 w/bolt ons.. see sig if you care.

They're not as fast as people think they are. I've driven one and raced one twice. Both times, I've won by at least half a car length. But then again it was stock.

I have raced 2 IS300's. At the time i was auto w/ CAI, VB mod, & Chrome rims.

I raced a blue IS on rt 10 here in NJ. He was in right lane i was in left. He was tail gating so i decided to slow it down and he pulls in next lane and floors it to pass me. Trust me, you can hear any car being floored. SO i waited till he got to my passenger door and then floored it. WIth the VB mod, it reacted so quick that i was able to pull dead even. BTW, at the time my speed was 50mph when i floored it. We were dead even until i hit my 5.5k rpms in 2nd and i started to pull. At 80mph i was 1 car ahead. As soon as i noticed i was ahead, i noticed his front end tilting down quite a bit. Basically he braked and slowed down since the speed limited posted was 40 and not 80.

Second time i was at E-town dragging. He ran a 15.7 vs my 15.5. I was quite impressed with that it ran stock.

I guess i wont spray unless anyone begins to even slightly pull on me.

IS300 vs. Maxima

My friend has a IS300. Seems like a nice car but c'mon.. it's way smaller than our max's and it's auto only!

I rode in it a few times.. seemed to have some pep but hey, turn on the air conditioning and you can forget it!

My 5-spd '97 SE seems to have way more pull. Guess I'll have to see what's up with him sometime soon and do a little "test". <grin>

you wanna get your @ss handed to you, race a dakota RT lol i was messing with one on the highway the other day and that thing flies man.. i knew they were quick but this guy pulled right on me... i have a 95 auto with a stillen intake.. the RT has a 5.9 and its a relatively small pickup truck.. then if you have the mods to beat that, step up to the lightning... man that thing is sweet

I have never lost to an R/T....they are slow as crap for the amount of HP they have. I was at the track a few weeks ago...and an R/T with exhaust was running 15.9s.

i dunno maybe that guy couldnt drive because trust me, this guy pulled on me i guarantee his would be in the 14's but then again just like our maximas, who knows if it was stock... it was dropped a little all black with black rims and front and back blackouts, shaved all emblems and his plate said something like dakotaRT lol

Sorry to say this, but an IS300 stock is definitely faster than a Maxima stock (or with little mods). They run a 0-60 in roughly 7.1, and the auto Maxima is closer to an 8 than a 7. The auto tranny and the terribly tall gear ratios are to be blamed.

I personally only go by magazines as a reference. I run low 7's in 0-60. I dont believe too much until i see it. I have seen times at the track vs magazines. Also, remember, locations, temp, humidity, driver, etc play a huge factor. They say a 2k Max runs the 1320 in 15.3. Adam (MY4DSC) ran 14.9's stock in his 2k. It will always vary.

As for those R/T's. They are damn pesky! I have seen them run consistent 15.4's at E-Town.
