Is anyone else RUSTING??
I have a 95 maxima with about 130k miles in IL. I noticed at the end of last winter that the paint on the passenger side rear wheel well start to peel. Does anyone else have issues with rust? I guess after 10 yrs, its not a surprise for a japanese car...
I have a 97 and I'm not rusting yet, except for my hood where all the rocks flew and scraped off some of the paint, but besides that nope. But my dad's 94 altima has a rust part on it, but he did some stuff to it so it would stop peeling and rusting back there.
I have one small speck of rust where paint chipped on my fender, but that's the only body rust. My exhaust rusted through about a year and a half ago, so I replaced that, and just last night the rust finally got to the heat shield over the catalytic converter and it fell off while I was driving. As for body rust I think I'm fairly lucky.
96 Champagne:
rust on trunk lid at spoiler joint (fixed)
rust on rear passenger side wheel well (bubbling - looking for a cheap fix)
uncarriage: god awful!
(but i think that's not too bad being nearly 10 years old and spending every minute of it in frigid, wet, salty Minnesota roads...)

My stock muffler already rusted out. The only other spots I've seen it are in the small rock chips on my hood, some bubbling paint on my roof, and a couple small blotches inside my trunk. Previous owner must have never rustproofed it but I get it done annually.

I think the wheel arches in 4th gens are particularly prone to rusting. Depends, if you live by ocean (saltwater mist) or salt for traction on the roads if you live somewhere snowy in winter.
I hope that's what you're after mate.

Part of my exhaust was starting to rust through before I replaced it...but that's it.
