Rims as luggage Part II

About two weeks ago I posted that I was thinking about checking rims as luggage from Utah to NC. Well I am happy to say that after a week of being lost all 4 rims and tires made it safe to NC. I checked 3 with the airline and sent one UPS and the airline lost all my luggage for a week. What a mess. It was during all that bad weather in Chicago but Monday night my rims thru United were finally found and the one thru UPS got here today. It will be nice to have my rims back on. I don't know what it is but having rims on a car just make me feel better about it. I guess I am shallow or something.

That reminds me of the time I debated whether to bring home a Budget Y-pipe as carry-on from Toronto!

Sounded like you were smuggling rims in luggages. Did the airlines know that there is a rim in each luggage?

If they didnt know you were shipping that as luggage it may have shocked, when it almost made the metal detector explode. Then they had to check it for drugs/bombs/ etc.

Yeah I decleared that they were rims and I got funny looks but they did it anyways. I barely made the weight though. The guy who checked them just asked if they were really only 50 lbs, which they were, so he checked them on through.
