Have a question, need help

I just bought a reverse EL glow gauges for my 99 max and I have a question, instead of connecting the power cables to the headlight switch, can I use a car charger and splice the power cable from the gauge to the charger and then plug the charge it in to make it work. I was wondering if that would work or not because I am scared it might be overwattage, but I think the gauge is 12v.

Some gauges will come with a "flush mount" power button.. You can hook up to a constant power and just use that if yours has one...Or run a constant into a switch...I dont know if I would try the charger idea.. Some of them have things in them to adjust the power and the cut-offs and such.

Does anyone know have a wiring diagram for the headlight switch because I do not know which wire to splice into for the power supply.

coming off the fuse and into the headlight switch it is the red and white wire
i would also suggest buying an inline fuse for it as well if your worried about overloading, the headlight fuse is 15 amps
