1st Gear accelaration

I don't know if this has happened to u guys or not, but whenever I"m at full stop and rev up on first gear, my car suddenly sinks frontwards and my rpm would go down but then come up again... its weird, like someone sits in the front of my car and then it pulls out fine afterwards... if anyone know what the problem is, please share... thanx

Sounds like the car is bucking

Are you launching somewhat aggressively?
How old is your clutch?

lol its because ur probably popping ur clutch way too fast, then ur car bogs down then picks up in like a second or two, just let the clutch out slow man

If his RPMs are bogging and then coming back up its because he is letting the clutch out too fast WHILE not applying enough gas.

Here is what you do: Give the engine a quick rev (to about 2.5k RPM), and then proceed to get into first like you normally do. See if the car still buckles down. Make sure that you do this quickly, dont just rev it and let it come all the way down, start to engage while the revs are at 2k RPM.

Hope you understand what I mean...

BTW, is this your first manual?

You need to gas the car and hold it at a certain RPM....say 3k for example....then when you're ready to go...just ease off the clutch...don't go too fast or else you will bog just like last time...and don't go too slow or else you'll smoke your clutch

What if his launch is fine, is there a possiblilty of a dead spot in the low rpm range thats causing this or fuel pump relay acting up, not to throw you on a wild goose chase... my 2 cents

Nope. I've launched at 1400 rpms a lot of times and there is no 'dead spot'. The only condition is power. If he doesn't have enough power to launch this low, then he should go up until he finds the "sweet spot". Usually on a stock max it seems to be 2500-3000.

No way, at 3000 you are basically launching it to race. I can get into first under 1kRPM with good acceleration and no bogging. Its all about getting familiar with your car and transmission.

i launch at 2.5k to race.....you are letting go of the clutch too fast....its hard to explain, but pretty much the rpms at however fast you are going are lower than what they are when you launched. FOr example if you completely let go of the clutch at 5 mph....your care is pretty much going to be pretty much what it would be at idle, maybe 800 rpm....you need to match the revs when you launch. If you are going to launch at 3000 rpm when you let go of the clutch completely your car should be at 3000 rpm in first gear(maybe 15 mph????)

I thought he was talking about regular first gear entry. I guess the word launch got thrown around a little bit here.
