it broke off while jacking the water pump out, it mustve been really corroded. He turned it half turn at a time alternating between the two.

I noticed some coolant under my car one morning, after parking it over night, which later turned into a minor oil leak. Once i park the car, the next morning, I see a small patch of oil, about 6inches long. Sometimes I hear a squeaking / chirping sound from the pump area that changes as I accel. Took it to a shop, and they told me my water pump is about to go, which explains the oil leak (i'm not sure how, I'm new to this, forgive me - can anyone tell me how this is so? I thought a faulty pump would leak coolant, not oil). So, anyway, ukmastermind, to answer your question, another way to tell if the pump is going bad is to listen out for wierd noises from that area.

BTW, congrats DCMAN, you just saved yourself $325 (well, at least that's what these guys wanted to charge me to change my pump, lol)

yea if my car starts. I havnt started my car yet so well see tommorow night after the silicone drys :X . If the gasket on the oil side (near the timing chain) breaks im assuming oil will leak out. Their are two o ring gaskets one for the oil side and one for the coolant side. The water pump couldve been faulty as well
