Franken Car Install

Just installed a frankencar intake with a k&n cone filter and when the car idles you can hear a constant hissing from something sucking air. Is this noise supposed to be there. We also noticed a slight power loss after driving around with it in. Any help would be greatly appreciated

ok sachmo, you probably dont want to hear this, but on the A32, without a velocity stack the mid-pipe does almost nothing... the main reason for this being that because of the position of your filter in relation to the battery and radiator, you're sucking in hot air, where as the stock system uses that air sucker scoop over your radiator to draw in colder air through your grille. What you can do is use creative ingenuity and about two feet of laundry exhaust piping to make yourself a ghetto cold air induction line to either a) the undercarriage b) to the stock system, where the airbox plugs into, or c) some other place cold air can be sucked in from without heat soak from exhaust maifold or radiator

If you can't figure out the deal with the piping, get a Jim Wolf Technology velocity stack/cone filter combo for about $100 and just rest it in the bottom half of your stock airbox.

Especially with automatics, aftermarket intakes usually make you lose low end power. A lot of intakes make that hissing noise.

As for ghetto ram air, I had this done years ago when almost everyone liked aftermarket intakes. I leave the org for a year, come back and now everyone says to keep the stock ones. BTW its feeding a Stillen velocity stack intake and place racing pipe.

Gawd...another intake thread!!! People should read the mod faq first before buying stuff like intakes. Stock is the best setup! The difference between all these other intakes is probably around 3-4 hp. Why spend your money on that and loose the fine balance that Nissan engineers have developed on our stock intakes??
