235/45/17 tires with drop...lets see!

Just like the title says.......

I'm going to be looking for a new set of tires and I wanted to see if anyone is running 235/45/17 tires on any kind of drop. Please specify your suspension setup and inches dropped. Also specify rim width. Don't forget to post your pix.

Thanks.

ewuzh 12-30-2005 10:57 PM

235/45/17 on a 17x7 wheel (GOOD size, IMO).

Now I have 235/40/18 on a 18x8 wheel, but I wish I got 245's.

check my cardomain
235/45/17 sumitomo's
tein s-techs w/ tokico illuminas

DR-Max 12-30-2005 10:59 PM

ewuzh....

Do you have a side shot of your car to show the drop? How much are you lowered? How much finger gap?

DR-Max 12-30-2005 11:04 PM

My rims are also 17x7.5 . Does the 235 bulge out much on the sidewall?

Yeah I have a sideshot but I will have to dig around to find it. It's an eibach prokit (1.5" drop) with 2.5 finger gap in front I believe. It's the mildest drop compared to everything else out there (Progress, Tein S-tech).

I like the look when tires bulge out a bit. It makes them look beefy and important.

nope. 235 i think is the widest tire that can be recommended to fit on a 7.5" wide rim

SMX95 12-31-2005 06:35 AM

I have pics on my cardomain,

235/45/17 and I have put on 245/40/18 both fit without rubbing.

H&R springs with KYB-AGX's ajustables..

nismos14 12-31-2005 06:37 AM

You can definately mounted wider on a 7.5, it will just look funny.

I'm looking to get a similar setup to what you had but with 18x8 in front and possibly 18x9 rear using KYB AGX struts and Eibach ProKit springs. Do you forsee any rubbing or any other suspension problems from this setup?

what size tires are you thinking of? the lower the profile the wider the tires are. Its strange don't ask me why but everytime I see 235/35/17 compaired to 235/45/17 the 1st ones are a tad wider. Rubbing is more of an issuse in the front not the rears. you will rub the plastic covers on the sides while making a sharp turn.

MAXRB8 12-31-2005 11:44 AM

Here's my old 17x8 Gladiators on 235/45/17 Yok's with Eibach and Illumina's ( 1.5" front & 1.3" rear):

thinking about getting new tires dennis? why?
enjoying the wheels?

DR-Max 12-31-2005 07:25 PM

I'm loving the new wheels........what a difference in looks. I think its how the colors on the wheels and my car that made it look good, who knows. :gotme: I'm looking into a new set of tires in a month, I just don't like the gap I have right now although it isn't that bad. Can you recommend a brand that will give me a good all season performance and grip, yet something that would last a little longer than 30k miles? By the time I get me the new tires, I'll have the nicks on the lips buffed out and probably have the spokes painted dark bronze. :D

206maxima 01-04-2006 01:49 AM

nice cars guys... really clean... i wish i had a 99... i love the fron bumper! i want to convert but its too much money... paintjob... btw how much do you think a paintjob with a lil body work (dings on door panel) will cost? coz the bumpers are easily found in ebay... i can get those right away but the paintjob man... it costs hella!

if you could can you guys tell me what a good alarm and keyless entry is out there? thanks! i need them...

235/50/17's rear (17 x 8), 225/50/17's front (17 x 7.5). Sitting on Illumina's and H&R (~1.5").

These were the stock G35 Coupe tires, when I retread, thinking 235/45/17 around (to facilitate tire rotation).

yeah, thats why i got my wheels, i love the look of rota subzero's....these are lightweight as well, with a polished lip (cant tell cause it's dirty) I got em for about 1/4 the price of rota subzeros....225 for rims and tires...with one extra rim..from an .org member of course

venompwr2 01-05-2006 02:45 PM

not quite what you asked for, but close enough. 245/45/17 on 17x8 wheels.
