I started my maxima and Vacuum Cut Valve Bypass Valve (0801) had come up on the SEL and at idle a rapid popping noise was coming from the engine bay. “The malfunction is detected when an improper voltage signal is sent to the engine control module through the VCVBV.” The write up for the VCVBV says that it is located in the rear left of the car. This confused me because the noise from the front of the car.

I reset the codes and restarted the car and noise was gone and light no longer there. Anyone with similar experience or suggestions on what to do?

I have the same problem...however...I believe I know which valve it is talking about. There is a canister behind the left rear wheel (the EVAP canister) and infront of it is a white valve with a few tubes going to it...2 on one side...1 on another..and yet another 1 on another side of the valve (closest piece to the tire). I believe that is the Vaccumm Cut Bypass Valve. My nissan dealer quoted me at around 115 for that part. It's not hard to change though...you have to just unhook the hoses and get it loose from the rest of the EVAP system I believe. Taking off your left rear tire will give you MUCH more space. I've tried it with the tire on and off (I changed the canister recently) and having the tire off helped greatly. I haven't tried to fix my code yet....but I'm planning to soon.
