Highway Vibration 70 plus any ideas?

I thought my worn out tires were the culpret of this vibration at high speeds, but today I purchased four brand new tires, balanced, etc. The problem still exists, almost seems worse. I have changed the struts front and back, new rotors , what could the problem be? Its fine until 65 or 70 then slight on off vibration, going to check it tomorrow, any ideas?

are you missing that ring that goes in between the wheel and the hub? that's what happened to my friends ride. wheel shop forgot to put one on.

This is what I suspected, ball joints/tie rod or something, I will look into that
Thanks everyone for quick answers.

I had one that would balance fine but a >50mph would put a slight vib. into the wheel. It was bent very very slightly I never hit anything that I knew of it showed no damage. Not saying thats your problem it could also be worn struts.

i am dealing with the same right now.

check tire pressure
bent wheel, bad tire (do "road force alalyzer" for all 4)
wheel bearings, hub
tie rod, suspension bushings, ball joins
struts/ strut asembly (bushings, mounts)

i've done: "road force" and it helped. i replaced one wheel, then did bearings (after i heard a noise coming from them), now i will be doing suspension bushings and check ball joins

road force is a #1 priority cost $80 for 4.

I just saw this thread........

Bad alignment can also cause this to happen. If your toe settings are way off, that's what is going to happen, aside from the pulling effect. In some cases, a speed balance also resolves the issue. Worn out suspension parts will definitely add fuel to the fire. Blown struts will cause your tires to bounce like a basketball as you are driving your car. I've seen this alot on old beat up cars driving down the freeway. It is almost scary to be close to them.

Doubt it is alignment, tracks rather straight, struts replaced recently, rims appear fine, tires new. Its not my rotors either, new this year. I am guessing either ball joint, tie rod, possibly motor mount. A very slight shaking only at 70plus, not like blown struts, or warped rotors. Going to jack it up and look now, thanks everyone for their input.

sounds like you may have a bent rim, my brother's max does the same thing, the tire shop was able to test it and figure out which one is bent.

They don't even have any curb rash, I don't think any are bent, but if all the suspension is fine, I will have all 4 BBS checked out.

it's not possible to see small structural damage to rim. and u have no idea if the tires are not defected. thats why there is Road Force that analyzies all those problems. + it does better job on balancing

i bought a rim almost new and looked new. it ended up to be x10 of the specs

Don't go over 70mph.... j/k I had to be the first one. My guess is wheel balancing. Good luck.

PLEASE HELP,for some reason I cant start a thread can someone start one for me PLEASE. My problem is: Just the other I put gas in and my car did not start, it made alot of clicking noises in the starter when i turned the key, eventually 5 minutes later it started. I was 350 miles away from home. The next morning again starter clicks but doesn't start. A few minutes later it starts. Decided to leave in the garage and borrow my dads truck. I figured the starter was going out, still original one my maxima is a 97 auto with 198,000. Well, I got a new starter and replaced it I didn't notice any loose wires or something out of the ordinary. When I tried to start it I got the same noises click, click, really fast. I checked the battery and I got 12.56volts. What gives? Any suggestions. Thanks great forum

I had the same problem a while back. I fixed the problem by taking out the rotors and brake pads and slightly sanded it down till it was kind of clean. I also did some cleaning with the calipers and rebolted everything back up.

Figured it out today, jacked up car, suspension was fine, had to be tires or wheels. Looked at weights all were the same except one, almost double all the others. Brought it back to wheel shop, had it rebalanced, watched him balance them all. Problem fixed, brought it on highway to almost triple digits, smooth as silk, it was the balance all along. Glad this happened, when I checked underneath noticed worn CV boot, going to order new axle, not worth just changing the boot, temporary fix that way.

Same thing happend to me, TWICE! once after new tires, and once after rotation and balance, bastards always f-up balance, and make you go crazy thinking its something else! I wish i could do everything myself, i hate taking me car to a shop. No one does a good job when it isn't their car....

i had NTB do 4-5 alignments and rebalance tires couple of times and still had vibration after and alignment wasn't that good. turns out ball joints are bad. they supposed to know those things. it would have saved me **** lots of time.
