Replacing Rear Rotors

I found the front rotor replacement faq. but i can't find one for the rear rotors... anyone?

also another q; what do i do with the brake line? won't it ooze out/squirt brake fluid when i take the caliper off? or do i have to tighten something???

thanks in advance...

Unless you're replacing the calipers, you wont ooze any fluid out.

Replacing the front rotors is the same as the rear, only that they tend to require more effort to break loose.

206maxima,

Just pm'ed you. Again, no need to break loose the brake lines, so no loss of fluid and you do need to rotate the piston back into the bore (this is the parking brake adjustment reset).

howbout the fron ones? so all i have to do is like remove the caliper remove the pads; then the rotor... replace; clean and put back...

i don't have to worry about the brake lines right? so you're saying even if i take out the calipers( i want to clean regrease and paint them) no brake fluid will come out???

thanks again...

No brakes line opening when replacing rotors/pads, only when replacing calipers.

You can remove the rotors, clean the calipers and paint them without having to disconnect the brake lines.

From the questions you're asking, I do not believe you've ever been in that area(taken wheel off, and looked at the brakes, and what would need to be done to remove them)

It would be much easier to remove them, but the one thing I hate doing is bleeding brakes

IIRC there's a how to in the stickys that walks you through painting them w/o removing them.

Once you remove the wheel and see where you stand, you should be able to take over from there.
