Square Trade Warrany. Should I get one??

Hey, I just bought a one owner 97 SE w/107K on it. I now have the option to buy a 2 year extended warranty for $1100 (about $59 a month). The warranty covers everything and has a $100 deductable. It sounds like a decent deal but I'm wondering if I even need it. I have the last 3 years of service history on the car and its been serviced at every interval (30K, 60K, 90K). If I have any major repairs will it even come close to the $1100 I would be spending?? I will do most of the minor stuff myself but and still get the oil changes, tune-ups, regular services at the dealer (this is not covered anyway). I'm not real sure about it but any feedback would help.

Thanks!!!

It depends on how liberal they are in determining "needed repairs." For example, the suspension is likely worn and could use new components. However, they are not "failed." Would they foot the bill if any shop says you need it replaced? Any older car will need some upkeep. I would guess more than $1100 for the next two years.

no, you can do work yourself....it's not exactly hard by any means, and it saves you lots of money. besides, Maximas are very reliable in general.

unless if you wanna drive it like you stole it for a while and break your engine or tranny or something major, i wouldn't pay that much for a warrenty for a cheap 9 year old car.

Cool, thanks for the advice. I think I am gonna pass on this one and just save my money. I'm fairly confident, with the service history, that the car is gonna be fine and not need too many major repairs in the next 2 years. If the car was sh*tty they wouldn't even offer to warranty it...

Thanks again!!

If you are inclined to do your own work,

Your time/effort + small $ donation to Maxima.org > $1100 Extended Warranty
