Ultrasonic Injector Cleaning
Ultrasonic Injector Cleaning
I've done this with my Rx-7, and I think I'd like to do it with my Maxima.
1) How much time might it take for me to remove them? (removing manifold, etc)
2) Who should I send them to? I've used RC Engineering already.
3) Does anyone have an old set I can get cleaned, so that I can install the cleaned set and give you mine? (Or some other arrangement so I don't have downtime)

Removing the upper IM is not really as bad as it may seem. The hardest part is the coolant lines. When I did my valve cover gasket (rear), I just took off the TB, IACV as seperate pieces. That makes it much easier to get to the EGR tube bolts and the rear bracket bolts on the IM itself. The coolant lines are tedious because of the limited space and short hoses. Long reach pliers are a must (straight needle nose and 30 or 45 degree angled ones). I think I can get the IM off in under an hour - but I've done it 3 times (due to my own stupidity
) already. I think you could have all 6 out of the car in 2 hours or so.I think deatschwerks.com - or something similar is being recommended as a place to get your injectors cleaned... I think I30tMikeD has a link to them in his sig (or at least used to).
I would call Tilleys99 - he has a lot of spare VQ parts and he will most likely gladly hook you up with a set of 6 injectors for a good price.

If you say the IM is about an hour job with practice I shouldn't have much trouble. The UIM on my Mazda is a nightmare - I can't be intimidated now

The only hard-to-get-to stuff is the two coolant lines in the rear.

Theres two bolts on the back drivers side for the egr, plus ?two? brackets at the back, there all a tight fit, gear wrenches help, I think there all 10mm, though theres a possibility the egr bolts are 12.
