How do I remove the stock radio to put an aftermarket CD playing into my 95 Maxima?

hahaha, I'm the newbie and even I know this is the wrong forum and that there's stickies for this. But hey, you need help right?
You didn't say whether or not you had a Bose system, but I assume it's the same surgical procedure to get whatever radio deck you have in there. To get started, you're going to have to take out the vent bezel assembly that has the hazard switch/defroster/clock stuff on it; sneak your thumb under the bottom of the assembly (in the gap where the bottom of the bezel meets the top of the climate control module)and lift SLIGHTLY up and pull the bezel OUT. If you lift up too much, you'll snap the plastic tabs on the bottom of the bezel. Disconnect all the wires and you basically have the hardest part out of the way. You'll see two screws exposed that secures the metal bracket containing the climate control module and the radio/pocket assembly. You'll need to remove those to get the entire climate control/radio assmbly out, BUT FIRST, you need to get to the OTHER two screws securing the bracket at the bottom. SO, just start pulling out the shifter trim FIRST, then the ash tray; once you pull out the shifter trim you'll also expose the bolt securing the right side of the ash tray assembly, i.e. you just can't pop the ash tray out. Once you take out the ashtray, you have access to the fourth bolt securing the center bracket. At this point, you can figure out the rest

You could also try use an impact screwdriver.

you gotta have 2 guys do this basically. like the other orger said, get the right size scredriver first. Don't use a smaller one or one that doesn't have enough poitn n what not. You put it on the table. You push down with all your force. The other guy turns the unit itself while u are holding down the screw. Make sure you have HIM turn it and not you. You get more force that way
