Adding an extra (1 or 2) cigarette lighters

I have a 98 maxima, and I think I only have the one power plug in the front below the stereo. I have looked at splitters at radio shack, but is there another way where I could run 1 or 2 more to the console or somewhere easy to access. (Both front seats are power.)
I have a GPS and my cell phone that I would like to power; and I am getting sirius, so that will need power too. Would it be possible to directly run cable off the stock plug into an additional one?

What do you guys recommend?

Thanks

Interesting idea. Very interesting. This will be my next junkyard project. I would think you could just tap power off the existing power plug (cig lighter) and run wires to where ever you wanted the plug to go. Im thinking inside the center console for me. I have a 1 to 2 adapter, so I dont see why this wouldnt be basically the same.

You will need wire, red and black, and a extra cig lighter or 2. after that is just stripping wire and soldering. then you will have to create a place for the new cig lighters. most likely just drilling the right sized hole. worst comes to worst you will just blow a fuse assuming you dont cross ground to power.

I have a computer and shiz for my car. I dont smoke so i spliced into the cig lighter and add in however many connections i need and inline fuses. For instance, snip the connector off a radar detector and solder/shrink to the cig wires. throw a fuse in for safety. If any of that makes sence to you.

Cant move the stuff out but, i plan out the locations for my items then just deal with it.

most electronics have different voltages too soo you will have to watch it if you tap in to it

just buy a socket from radio shake and tap it into your stock socket

I bought another lighter from Kragen and wired it to the back of the factory cig lighter, but I used it for my sirius so I taped it up and left it behind the stereo.

The factory cig lighter is really easy to pull out to tap the wires, just pull up the plastic surrounding the shifter and there it is.
