Maxima speed question

I was just curious, and I'm sure everyone's results are different, but what is the compared results of a Max's HP when stock compared to that of a hooked up Max w/out turbo or with off the wheel... not how much the engine can put out, but how much overall HP considering the weight of the car, drivetrain, etc...

well I just want to know how fast is the maxima when u put in weight and all that other stuff together. Because statistically its 190 HP, but thats only how much the engine "itself" puts out isn't it, that HP doesn't take in account of when the engine is put into the car and the weight of the whole car is effecting the total HP

Basically you want dyno numbers to the wheels.

You mean Wheel Horsepower? WHP........

Depends if your auto or 5spd, I think stock 5spds do 165-170whp, with mods there usally around 185-190.. There are some freaks out there running 200+/whp in a 3.0N/A..

your going to be getting rather large variables in HP. Its like comparing a bone stock 4th gen to Hlh501's car and everything in between which is + or - few hundred HP.

okay..

weight of your car has nothing to do with how much horsepower you put to the ground, it only affects how fast that much horsepower will get you down the track..

what the 4th gen makes at the crank (190 hp) is different than what it will put down to the wheel once you take parasitic drivetrain loss into account. As a general rule rear wheel drive cars lose more than front wheel drive cars, and all wheel drive cars lose the most percentage-wise. Also, automatic trannies tend to cause more of a loss than manual, again percentage-wise off the original crank hp number. I'm really not sure what the vq30 puts down to the wheel bone stock, but if you calculate based on an average front wheel drive drivetrain loss percentage, you can figure you'll put down around 170 whp..

huh... I didn't know that u lose more percentage if ur car is a rear wheel or a all wheel drive, thats extra info for me... if anyone has had a dyno test I'm curious to know how much gain u got off of ur car along with if ur car is bare boned stock or if u've moded it... I'm just trying to get an average WHP knowledge whether w/ mods or just plain stock, because my car has an intake that the previous owner installed but the exhaust is all stock

This would make perfect sense. If the vehicle in question is rear wheel drive, the power needs to travel further along the driveshaft in order to get to the wheels--->ground. AWD needs to give all 4 wheels power, so therefore it's distributed through all 4 wheels rather than 2. FWD is the most 'effecient', since the engine/tranny/drive wheels are all pretty close to each other, and the power doesn't need to travel so far. But FWD has its issues and that's an entirely different ball of wax.

On my 3.5L I've gained over 30 whp with bolt ons for under 1000$. But the 3.0L is different, not by much.

Gather your thoughts and then post because your posts are a little hard to understand. I don't even think you know what you're asking.

Try this for more info...

RWD and AWD loses more power b/c the engine has to distribute its power to all four wheels (AWD) and through a driveshaft (RWD).

I guess I just want to get a general view of how much power a Max has WHP wise. thats why I'm asking for either bare bone stock WHP, moderate moded WHP, or a serious mod like a 3.5L upgrade WHP

sorry if anyone misunderstood

Please try reading the links in this thread, you are just asking repetitive questions and its getting annoying.

FWD drivetrain loss is probably around 10-12%, RWD is probably around 12-15%, AWD is probably closer to 20-25%.

If you're auto, then add about 5-7% on top of that.

that is true, all I know is that it measures the WHP and torque, but I'm not all too clear about reading the graph itself...

Holy crap, what a drop in both hp and torque above 5000 RPMs. Are most cars like that, or is that just the result of an untuned engine?

It depends..
If it were 5000 feet, it could be catastophic to your health.

Nor 75% of the tq of the Maxima. The USDM was designed for tq via long runners.

USDM intake manifolds blow horse *****........00VI is what i need....or atleast an MEVI...but then i lose all my torque which comes in handy for auto-x....but thats just a base line dyno to give u an idea on power loss....

Geez this thread is... wow. Some of you guys need to start expanding your reading on the .org a little bit, starting with the dyno section and maybe some threads about engine mods... then when you are feeling bold go check out the all motor section (but don't post a thing until you've read all you can in there).
