Clean IACV Ticking

ok. i read a few threads here about this ticking noise comming from IACV. the problem is that everyone suggests to clean it. but in my case the noise appeared after i cleaned TB and IACV, before i had NO noise. it's not that loud, and u cannot hear it with hood closed, but its defenetely there. another thing i noticed is that after i reconnected IACV connectors and started the car, noise was gone, but right after i rev.ed engine alittle it came back.

anyone know whats up?

It ticks as the stepper motor adjusts the air-flow to control the idle speed. It's normal. It may not have been ticking before because the gunk build up was either preventing it's free movement or providing a cushion to supress/limit the sound.

thanks i was worried. just one more question: i took out the brown plastic valve and a part of it was sitting inside IACV (like a rod).....was i supposed to take that out too and clean it? i kinda pulled it, but it didn't come out so i just reasembled everything.

EDIT: I GOT IT NOW

hmm, I have the same problem, after I cleaned my TB, IACV started ticking. so I cleaned the IACV too, but that did not help either. The ticking however goes away, if you turn the idle screw clockwise, or turn it down all the way, but that then makes the idle speed a bit low

Can you still hear your's ticking or has it adjusted finally?

I personally think that is not normal something is wrong.

Hey guys since you've all cleaned your IAC let me ask you this...do you need to adjust your idle after cleaning or can you just take off the battery connection then let the car re-learn it's idle?

i adjusted mine. it takes 2 minutes.

with car off disconect TPS, start car, adjust by rotating the black screw on IAC, shut the engine off and reconect TPS
