My dilemma (rims)
My dilemma (rims)
Alright so a friend of mine is selling his rims, they cost him 1400 new a year ago, still have 95% tread on them.... 800 to me.
The problem lies in the fact that its hideous unless i have a drop...

Now ive photoshopped a 2ish inch drop in there, and its beautiful,

But the problem lies in the added cost of suspension components.
I'd probably get Ksport lowering springs and illumina struts, but thats ~700 dollars more right there, and the problem lies in the fact that i drop 800 for these now, PROBABLY wont use them until i have to spend 700 more to make it look decent.....
I guess im asking what you all think I should do if you were in the situation.

Well im getting a hell of a deal, 350 up front, the rest paid whenever i can (which is every 2 weeks when I get paid) so really its almost too good to be true... but he is getting some FOOSE 20's for his I30T......wow i know, but yeah, i guess ill buy em then
Ive got sawblades right now....

Ive got sawblades right now....
1. I don't like the rims; it's tough to pull off the polished silver lip and black spokes and I think the lip is pretty ugly on those. Also, I really don't think black rims go with a dark green car AT ALL. It just clashes. I would stick with silver or MAYBE gunmetal.
2. If you like the rims and don't want to pass up the deal, buy the rims, then buy the springs which I assume are under $200. Then install the springs with your stock struts and ride around like that until you can afford good struts.
Two problems: you will have to disassemble and reassemble all four strut assemblies twice rather than just once (but it really doesn't take that long if you know how to do it) and you will have a mediocre to sh!tty ride until you can put in the aftermarket struts. But it may be worth it for the looks. The stock struts may blow in 3 to 6 months (who knows) but I think it'd be worth it. One other drawback would be if your Maxima has very low miles and you want to sell you stock struts, you couldn't do this, obviously.
You're gonna love the way rims and drop transform the 4th gen Maxima.

wait...the car is green?
na bro, i agree with vquick, those rims suit an all black car.
i mean it looks nice now, but when the light hits the car, its going to look kinda akward.
if you like dark rims, gunmetal will look way better

Well thanks for your opinions, positive and negative! feedback is what i was looking for. I'm going to pay him off $100 a paycheck and then put the rest of it away for suspension (so $100 ksport coilovers first, then ~450 for illuminas)
But Either way, thanks for talking me into getting them.... I suffer from a lack of decisiveness on big purchases like this

plus twice the alignment fees. unless you get lifetime alignment somewhere.
there's always something caleld a credit card...-= ) give the money to ur friend and charge the k-sport or d2's i agree...gunmetal looks a lot better..hence thats why i got them..-= )
Similar dilemma for me. I want to get some rims but I also have to lower my car and its way too expensive to me to do both since I'm saving up for college...actually its too expensive for me to do even one but I'm still hoping to get lowered!
If you can afford to spend the money, then I'd say get them since they're way cheaper than new and put them on when you can lower your car too.

Well today I actually planned out my expenses for the next few months, and talked to the kid about getting them, Im spending 100 of my next paycheck on Ksport lowering springs, then ~450 when i get it for some illuminas. After that Its whatever i set aside for the rims. He is fine waiting that long, so it looks like im set... The only issue i have with how it looks is the front wheels are ALMOST sticking out from the fender ( the rears tuck nicely)... Is there any way to fix that besides machining the inside of the rim?
I'm pretty sure you can get Illuminas for around $400 shipped these days. Check group-deal forum maybe.
No, that's the rim of the wheels. I told you I didn't like it, it does stick out really far. The reason it's not as noticeable in the rear is the rear wheels are tucked in by about 1/2" versus the fronts, which is why I have 15mm spacers on my rear hubs to balance it out. I hated the tucked-in rear look, now it's about even.

Well doing my axle change I dropped my LCA and strut, so im almost positive my alignment is off somewhat, but im saving that for until i get all this stuff squared away.
