Dust boots, do you really needem?

I installed the tokico spring shock combo and left off the dust boots. It hardly rains here in temecula, ca.

Is this a bad thing?

Am i screwed?

cant help, but my car has been running with the decomposed OEM dust boots on stock struts for a year (since my dad sold it to me) and rides just as good now as it did then. With new struts though why not do it.... its a hefty investment and just more security for you

You should definitely get dust-boots... it helps protect the strut from grime/dirt/etc.

It's not so much the dust cover, but the missing bump stop that will cause you harm, especially on your lowered setup. If you bottom out the strut, kiss it goodbye. The warranty wount be of any help either.

My origionals decomposed. I cut off that part, but took the bump stops and cut them in half. Tokico said that was safe.

i ordered new ones when i put in my illuminas. i'm not gonna spend that much money on new parts and then skimp out on the $40 cuz i didn't wanna buy dustboots. protecting my investment. one big rock chip or dent on the strut piston and you will develop a leak. i think it's worth it.

I bought a full set of KYB boots, but I haven't put them in yet. My stock boots have been shredded up for the past year, but my struts are still rock solid.
